Lily's Home Water Birth (in Pictures)

The day before Lily, my second daughter, was born.                 Nathan setting up the Aqua Doula tub.

Timing contractions.   Labor started with my water releasing.                           Relaxing in the tub.  Getting in the water halved the amount of pain

                                                                                                                             I was feeling.

Pushing.  Second stage lasted about 45 minutes.

She came out "sunny-side-up".  She must have turned posterior on the way out, because

she wasn't posterior during pregnancy.

Baby turns to the side so shoulders can be born.

At this point I was tired of pushing, so I pulled!

Our first hug.

Sweet little face!

First nursing, still in the tub with placenta attached.  Look at the fat rolls...she was 10lbs. even.

Cutting the cord (placenta is out).

Tucked in bed after an intense but ecstatic 7-hour labor and birth.  Waterbirth--try it, you'll never go back to the 'land' again!
